About Chesapeake Bay Trust

The Chesapeake Bay Trust is a nonprofit grant-making organization dedicated to improving the watersheds of the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland Coastal Bays and Youghiogheny River. Founded in 1985, the organization’s leaders believe that getting residents involved is the key to restoring the Chesapeake Bay.
The Trust is the entity that manages funds raised from the iconic “Protect the Chesapeake” vehicle license plate, which are distributed to over 400 schools, community groups, natural resource organizations, local governments and other entities each year.
